This cabin is located on the north end of Jim's Lake, a small, isolated lake in the south-central portion of Admiralty Island. The cabin is in a primitive setting, with no electricity, plumbing, or phone. The cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table and benches, is heated with a wood stove, and has an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food. The person holding the reservation must be at least 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is not allowed. There are no discounts for Golden Age or Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Access by floatplane only. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by a helicopter is illegal. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1-September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1- April 30.
You may reserve this cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance. Treat or boil water before consumption. In the fall, winter and early spring, the lake may be frozen and the cabin inaccessible. Please contact Admiralty National Monument prior to making reservations during this period. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. All garbage and food must be packed out.
