This cabin is located at the northern end of Young Lake, a small lake on the northern end of Admiralty Island. Deer and brown bear can be seen in the area; a 5 mile trail leads to Admiralty Cove. The cabin is in a primitive settin with no electricity,plumbing,or phone. This is a one-room cabin with four bunks that can sleep up to 6 people. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, and benches, is heated with a wood stove, and has an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags,pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. eeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. The person holding the reservation must be 18, and must be a member of party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. There are NO discounts for Golden Age or Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Access by floatplane only. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1-Sept 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party Oct 1- April 30.
You may reserve this cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance. Treat or boil water before consumption. In fall, winter, and early spring, the lake may be frozen and the cabin may be inaccessible to floatplanes. Please contact Admiralty National Monument prior to making reservations during these periods. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. All garbage and food must be packed out.
