General Description

Cabin equipped with bunks, table, benches, oil stove for heat and outside toilet. No mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. Oil stove uses #1 oil (#1 diesel) to be supplied by user. For a list of stove oil suppliers for the Juneau and Skagway area call (907) 586-8751. Fuel consumption is approximately 1.5 gal/8 hours with stove on low setting. The activities in the area include boating, hiking and fishing. This is a long, narrow fjord-like lake with steep mountains surrounding. The west end is the outlet. Scenery is beautiful, spruce-hemlock forest with black bears, waterfowl and fish. The person holding the reservation must be 18, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. There are NO discounts for Golden Age/Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. OK to bring outboard for boat; boat has a 15" transom. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1-September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation October 1-April 30

You may reserve this cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance.Occasionally poor weather can occur and cabin users should be prepared. All garbage and food must be packed out. Catch and release only on cutthroat trout. Bring personal flotation devices for the boat, oars are provided. Lake or stream water must be boiled or treated before drinking. In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (floatplanes cannot land). Please contact the local Forest Service Ranger District office for information prior to making reservations during these periods. Lake is normally not ice free until early June

Directions: Located eighteen miles east of Juneau. This cabin is at the west end of Turner Lake. Access by floatplane or by boating up Taku Inlet and hiking .8 miles to the cabin.
