Bear Canyon Rare II Contiguous Wilderness Area in Monterey County encompasses 318 acres adjoining the Los Padres National Forest RARE II Unit 5-103, Bear Mountain. The majority of the unit slopes upward in a northerly direction to higher elevations within Los Padres National Forest. An intermittent creek partially forms the western boundary of the unit. Pine and oak trees along with chamise are the major types of vegetation found within the unit. Elevations vary from 1,800 - 3,000 feet above sea level. There is not a recreation map available, however, the USGS 7.5 Quadrangel Map, Bear Canyon, details the region. The only public access to this unit is through the Los Padres National Forest.

Directions from Carmel Valley, CA: G16 travels through Los Padres National Forest, which is the only access to this WSA.
