Located on the Smoky Hill River in central Kansas approximately 30 miles southwest of Salina. Kanopolis Lake is one of the oldest lakes in Kansas surrounded by vast open prairie. The area offers many recreational opportunities as well as fishing and hunting. A variety of game animals such as pheasant, quail, prairie chicken, whitetail, turkey, waterfowl, rabbit and squirrel can be found here. Riverside Campground offers 40 campsites, 9 with electric hookup and 31 primitive campsites. Other amenities include a dump station, hot showers, playground, and river access for fishing.
Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. The campground is open with full facilities between 1 May - 30 Sep and sites range from $10-$14.00/night. An attendant is on duty during this time. There is a $4/night utility fee at sites with electrical hookups 1 Oct-30 Apr. Maximum camping units per campsite: 1 wheeled camping unit and 2 tents, or 3 tents only. Wheeled camping units and tents are allowed on these sites.
Directions: From Salina, KS: take Hwy 140 W for 19 mi to Hwy 141. Travel for 14 mi S to end of the dam to Riverside Dr. Follow for • mi E to campground entrance.
