Bear Creek Cove is located at Kaw Lake in north central Oklahoma, approximately 8 miles east of Ponca City on the Arkansas River. Camping, fishing, boating, and hiking are favorite pastimes. There are 9 public use areas and 2 lake access points located around the lake for visitors to enjoy. Campers can select from over 300 family campsites., The Lake and river are known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish and offering anglers excellent opportunities to catch crappie, sand (white) bass, and walleye. 10 boat ramps offer easy access to the lake. Hikers and horseback riders are attracted to the beautiful trails along the eastern shore. The Eagle View Hiking Trail is approximately 12 miles long and runs between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing. The Five Fingers Equestrian Trail extends from Burbank Landing to the Sarge Creek Cove Public Use Area. With an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, Kaw Lake has something for everyone.
*Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.* 2 night minimum on weekends. 3 night minimum on holidays. The campground is open May 1 through Sept 30 and offers 22 campsites. Sites are $13/night. Reservations are taken from May 1 through Sept 10; sites are available on a first come-first served basis outside the reservation season.
Directions: 8.3 miles east of US 77 in Newkirk, OK via county road and 3 miles south via county road. Follow entrance signs.
