Antelope Lake Recreation Area- Antelope Lake Recreation Area is located in the northeastern region of the Mt. Hough Ranger District, southwest of Janesville. Enjoy the many camping and water sport activities of Antelope Lake. From Water skiing and boating to swimming and fishing, Antelope Lake RecreationArea has a variety of water fun.
Bucks Lake Recreation Area- Bucks Lake Recreation Area is located in southern region of the Mt. Hough Ranger District, just south of Bucks Lake Wilderness area. Bucks Lake offers many water sport activities including boat rentals, fishing and water skiing. Enjoy the many camping opportunities at this beautiful mountain lake.
Bucks Lake Wilderness- Bucks Lake Wilderness is located on the Plumas National Forest of Northern California. Elevations range from 2,000 feet in the Feather River Canyon, to 7,017 feet at Spanish Peak.
Feather River Canyon- The Feather River Canyon is located in the southwestern region of the Mt. Hough Ranger District, just north of the Bucks Lake Wilderness Area. Gasner Bar Work Station is at the entrance to the canyon. Feather River Canyon offers many recreational activities. Hiking, fishing, swimming, picnicking and playing horseshoes are just a few of the activities available.

General Information

Description - The Mt. Hough Ranger District has many opportunities for recreation. The Antelope Lake and the Bucks lake Recreation Areas offer many activities. The Feather River Canyon area is another area with many activities. Silver Lake, Snake Lake and many other lakes provide areas for fishing, boating, hiking and camping.

Recreation - The Mt. Hough Ranger District in the Plumas National Forest offers recreationists a wide variety of outdoor experiences including camping, picnicking, fishing, waterskiing, swimming, boating, hunting, hiking, sightseeing, and winter sports such as snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

Climate - The Plumas generally experiences warm, dry summers and cold, wet winters. Weather can change rapidly during all seasons of the year. Elevation plays a major role in temperature and precipitation. This precipitation falls mainly from October through April. At higher elevations, it comes mostly in the form of snow. Clouds can build up during the summer to produce thunderstorm activity. It is wise to pack for any season with clothing that can be "layered", ready to peel off or add on as the thermometer dictates. Always include some kind of rain gear.

Location - The Mt. Hough Ranger District is located at the northern end of the Plumas National Forest in Northern California. It lies south of Lake Alamor, around the towns of Quincy and Greenville. The northern border of this District border the Lassen National Forest.

Feather River Scenic Byway - Climbing over the Sierra's crest and through Beckwourth Pass to the east, the Feather River Byway offers memorable sights such as waterfalls, gigantic rock outcroppings, forested slopes, and delicate meadows.
Plumas National Forest - The Plumas National Forest is located in Northern California between the Sierra Nevada and the Cascade Ranges. The Plumas offers tree covered mountains, high alpine lakes and miles of clear running streams.
