General Information

Description - Scenic and recreation opportunities abound in this area. Lake Blue Ridge is 3,290 acres in size and offers a campground, picnic areas, and boating opportunities.

Recreation - This area is home to a section of the world famous Appalachian trail, which can be accessed by various side trials within this district. The Toccoa River Canoe Trail offers a easy river run. The Aska Trails is a great mountain biking trail system.

Climate - The Georgia Mountains area of the Chattahoochee National Forest has summers with warm to mild days and comfortably cool nights. Winters in the area can be quite cold with snow and ice at he higher elevations. Precipitation varies but usually stay between 50 an 80 inches a year, most of this in winter

Location - This district lies within the Chattahoochee National Forest, along the northern edge of Georgia. The National Forest lies between Highways I-75 and I-85. The District office is in Blue Ridge on Hwy. 76.
