- The primary recreation attractions on the Chickasaway Ranger District include the Turkey Fork Recreation Area, the Longleaf Horse Trail, and the Little Tiger ATV Trail.
Recreation - The Turkey Fork Recreation Area draws crowds of visitors to swim, camp, picnic, fish and water ski in its inviting lake. Other activities available on the Chickasawhay District include horseback riding, hiking, and riding ATV's and motorcycles.
Climate - Weather in this region varies with the time of year. Summers are typically very hot and humid, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms always a possibility. Summer daytime temperatures frequently reach into the upper 90's, with nighttime lows in the mid to upper 70's. Winters are often wet with some cold temperatures. Snow is uncommon. Winter days are warm enough for comfortable outdoor activities.
The Chickasawhay Ranger District encompasses the northern section of the De Soto National Forest. It is located to the southeast of Laurel where the District Office is found.
