- Most of the developed recreation attractions on the Homochito Ranger District are centered around the Pipes Lake Recreation Area which has a 14-acre lake and a picnic area. The Woodman Springs Shooting Range is located just north of Gloster.
Recreation - Hunting, picnicking, fishing, and boating are the primary activities available on the Homochito District.
Climate - Weather in this region varies with the time of year. Summers are typically very hot and humid, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms always a possibility. Summer daytime temperatures frequently reach into the upper 90's, with nighttime lows in the mid to upper 70's. Winters are often wet with some cold temperatures. Snow is uncommon. Winter days are warm enough for comfortable outdoor activities.
The Homochito Ranger District encompasses the western portion of the Homochito National Forest in southwest Mississippi. It is located north of Gloster and southeast of Natchez. State Highway 33 runs through the middle of the District.
