General Information

Description - Ragtown is located on the Texas shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir and is maintained and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Completed in 1975, this area is nestled high on a bluff and offers spectacular views of the water. The boat ramp allows access to the lake most of the year.

Whether in an RV or tent camping, visitors have 12 single and 13 double campsites to choose from, and each site has a level pad, picnic table and campfire ring which can be used as a cooking grill.

Showers, drinking water and toilet facilities are available within a short distance of each camping site. A waste/dump station is available for RVs. There are no sites with electrical hookups.

Visitors can hike along 1-mile long Mother Nature Trail winding past magnificent oak and beech trees along the lake shore.

In consideration of other visitors, no off-road vehicles may be ridden in the campground.

Ragtown Recreation Area Information:

CAMPING - $5.00 single campsite, $8.00 double campsite per night (includes parking fee for one vehicle).

DAY-USE PARKING - $2.00 (for boating, fishing, picnicking and hiking).

Campground regulations and emergency phone numbers are posted at the bulletin board at the Ragtown Recreation Area entrance.

Attractions - Ragtown is located with the Sabine National Forest and on the Texas shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir This area is nestled high on a bluff and offers spectacular views of the water.

The Recreation Area provides access to a diversity of water based activities, including boating and swimming. The area also has a boat launch and camping facilities.

Recreation - Recreation at Ragtown includes, tent and RV camping, boating and fishing.

Climate - Eastern Texas experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter.

Location - Follow Highway 87 east from Center for 11 miles; turn left (east) on FM 139 for 6 miles; bear right onto FM 3184 and follow 4 miles to entrance.
