Arkansas National Forests and Parks

Arkansas Post National Memorial- Located on a peninsula bordered by the Arkansas River and two backwaters, this site offers excellent fishing and wildlife watching opportunities.The establishment of the Post was the first step in a long struggle between France, Spain, and England over the interior of the North American continent.
Fort Smith National Historic Site- Commemorating a significant phase of America's westward expansion, Fort Smith stands today as a reminder of 80 turbulent years in the history of Federal Indian Policy.
Hot Springs National Park- This 5,839.24 acre park was first designated as a federal treasure in 1932. It contains 47 thermal springs with water temperatures near 143 degrees (F) year round.
Ouachita National Forest- Located in the Ouachita Mountains Arkansas and Oklahoma, the Forest offers visitors a myriad of opportunities for the visitor. The Forest offers a National Recreation Area, Wilderness, scenic byways, rivers and more.
Ozark-St. Francis National Forests- The Ozark National Forest covers more than one million acres, mostly in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas. The St. Francis encompasses 20,000 acres on the Mississippi River in east-central Arkansas.
Pea Ridge National Military Park- The Union victory at Pea Ridge on March 7 & 8, 1862, is one of the major engagements of the Civil War west of the Mississippi which led to the Union's total control of Missouri.
