Alexandria is a small recreation area encompassing 55 acres of land with two lakes totalling 46 acres of water. The area is fairly level with mature trees offering fishing, picnic shelters and campsites.
Western history buffs will want to visit Rock Creek Station State Historical Park which is located approximately 22 miles from Alexandria State Recreation Area. It is at Rock Creek Station SHP that "Wild Bill" Hickok began his notorious career.
Alexandria State Recreation Area offers primitive camping with some sites having 30-amp electrical hook-ups. Campers can fish, picnic and enjoy wildlife viewing.

Climate - Nebraska has a moderate climate with high humidity. The relative humidity in this state averages 70 percent throughout the year. Winter temperatures normally average between 20 and 45 degrees F. March brings warmer weather and temperatures above freezing for most of the month. Spring is in full swing by late April when temperatures often reach above 60 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach highs of 95 degrees F frequently, with warm weather continuing into mid September. Crisp fall weather truly begins in October when nighttime temperatures begin to dip into the low 40s. The wettest time of the year in this state is late spring through summer.
Go west on State Highway #136 to State Highway #53. Go north on #53 until you get to the town of Alexandria. Turn east (right) on the blacktop recreation road, go three miles. Turn south (right again) and go one mile to the park entrance.

You may simply drop south on #53 and go to Alexandria. Turn east on the blacktop recreation road for 3 miles, turn south for one mile.
