General Information

Description - Stretching northeast from the historic mining town of Helper in the canyon of the Price River. US-191 ascends Willow Creek featuring open vistas and passing through the beginning of the Roan and Book Cliff formations. Peaking at Indian Creek Pass, 9,100 feet in elevation, the byway passes through the Ashley National Forest. It passes by a unique display of rock formations and vegetation types from pinyon and juniper to aspen and Douglas fir. Elk and deer are often seen along the route and the contrasts of autumn foliage are particularly beautiful. From the summit, the road follows Indian Canyon through desert terrain bordering Indian Creek. At the byway's end lies the town of Duchesne, settled in 1904.
