Description - Fishlake Scenic Byway U-25, runs through the Fish Lake Basin which is about 8,850 feet in elevation. In the basin lies a geological wonder, a 2,500 acre lake, formed by the shifting of the earth's faults. Gracing the popular fishing site, is historic Fish Lake Lodge made by the hands of determined pioneers. Bicyclists and nature lovers can find a variety of trails through the surrounding Fishlake National Forest. While enjoying the wonders of nature, it is common to see a deer or two right along the byway. Fall is glorious along the byway, as the various shades of red, orange and yellow brighten the aspen covered mountains. As snow blankets the forests and glades, snow shoers and cross-country skiers can find a peaceful solitude throughout the mountains.
