General Information

Description - Louisiana's Bayou Byway route explores the back roads in 13 parishes and covers some 500 miles through Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington. Ease out of the fast lane, exit the interstate, enjoy the culture, history, and beauty of our home. Let us treat you like homefolks as you wander the Louisiana Scenic Bayou Byway through a state known as host to the world and home to the adventurous. Along the byways are numerous properties listed in the National Register historic districts, and 3 National historic landmarks. Traveling this byway, you will be able to experience Louisiana's ties to Europe, Africa, the Caribbean Basin, Canada, Asia, and the rest of these United States. Many early 1700's records can be found in historic courthouses along the Louisiana Bayou Byways.

Attractions - The Louisiana Scenic Bayou Byway is known for it's Archeology, Cultural, Historical, Natural, Recreational and Scenic Attractions.

Directions from : This byway travels on interstates: 12, 10, 55, & 59 and state highways: LA 1, 19, 67, 77, 61, 22, 43, 51, 21, 10, 190, 44, 30, 70. The first land and waterways in the Bayou Byways area from the Gulf of Mexico upward to the Mississippi River are: Ascension - Assumption - Iberville - West Baton Rouge - Pointe Coupee The alternate route to the Gulf Coast Biloxi area (once the international boundary for France, Spain, England, and the new United States) is referred to the West Florida Parishes. They are: East Baton Rouge - West Feliciana - East Feliciana - Livingston - St. Helena - Tangipahoa - Washington - St. Tammamy
