Description - Meandering through 150 miles of Otter Tail County, the Otter Trail is a delightful drive. Guiding travelers over rolling hills thick with maple, oak, and birch trees; past shimmering lakes and ponds sprinkled with white and yellow water lilies; and thorough fascinating towns alive with culture, history and fun things to see and do, the byway provides treats to delight the senses. Highway signs sporting a frisky otter clearly mark the circuitous route, and with the help of an Otter Tail County map available at any regional Minnesota Information Center, the journey makes a terrific day-trip. Travel through Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, Perham and Pelican Rapids in the most beautiful lake country Minnesota has to offer.

Location -
Directions from : From St. Paul, Inspiration Peak is the closest point along the 150-mile route. Get off I-94 at the Brandon exit, just past Alexandria, and head north on Minnesota 7. Begin your trip along the Otter Trail in Pelican Rapids. From there, head east on Hwy. 108, until you reach Dent, from which you will go north to get on Hwy. 34 until you get to Perham. From Perham, drive south along Hwy. 78 and then on Hwy. 59 until reaching Urbank. From Urbank, head west along Hwy. 38, which takes you through various lakes such as Eagle Lake and Lake Vinge. Once at Dalton (off Hwy.12), head northwesterly along Hwy. 33 to Fergus Falls. Hwys. 1, 45, 115, 24 and U.S. Hwy. 59 will take you northeasterly back to Pelican Rapids.
