General Information

Description - Located just south of Victorville in Summit Valley, Mojave River Forks is a park under a land lease agreement from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The park had been subleased and operated by a concessionaire up until July of 2000 when Regional Parks took over management of the facility. Offering approximately 1,100 acres, the park is perfect for camping and trail use.

Attractions - Mojave River Forks has 25 full hookup RV sites, 30 tent sites, 25 non-hookup sites, three group areas, completely outfitted restrooms, and dump stations. Camp store and pay phone on-site. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, barbecue grill and campfire ring. The park features over 600 acres of hiking and equestrian trails with direct access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Equestrian facilities are provided in a specially designated camp area with trailer parking, hitching posts, watering trough, and restroom building. The park is an ideal location for those looking to head up to Silverwood Lake for the day or those looking for great mountain bike riding.

Recreation - Recreations enjoyed at Mojave River Forks include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, playground use, horseshoe toss, along with camping opportunities for families and groups.

Climate - A warm, dry Mediterranean climate prevails over Southern California - inland it is generally hot in the summer and mild in the winter. During the summer, valley temperatures can soar above 100 degrees while remaining pleasant in the mountains. Most of the precipitation comes as rain during the winter months. During the winter months higher elevations experience snow and freezing temperatures.
