Sunburst over Lake Tahoe
Description - From the breathtaking views, close proximity of the parking lots and ease of the children's ski school to the meticulously groomed cruisers and steeps of Quail Face, Homewood Mountain Resort is an excellent mountain for the whole family.

Attractions - With 56 trails spread over 1,260 acres, Homewood has something for every ability level. As the closest ski area to Lake Tahoe, right across the road in fact, Homewood has some of the most spectacular views on the lake.

There are four Chairlifts and four surface lifts. Child Care, a rental and repair shop, and ski and snowboard schools are also available. When parents want to explore the mountain on their own, Homewood's Snowstars program is the perfect place for kids ages 4-10. Great for first timers or more advanced skiers and boarders, experienced instructors run this program from the newly renovated Children's Center in the South Lodge. Additional facilities at Homewood include two day lodges a bar and restaurants.

Recreation - Homewood offers skiing, snowboarding and scenery to view over 1,260 skiable acres.

Climate - Changeable weather conditions are common in the Lake Tahoe Basin throughout the year. Winter storms may occur from September through June, with heavy snow accumulations likely. Many of the ski resorts expect an average of over 450 inches of snow annually and can stay open until June. Sunny, summer skies may cloud over quickly with thundershowers, catching some people by surprise. Weather may also vary or change rapidly from lake-level (6,225 ft) to mountain peaks (10,880 ft).

Location - Homewood Mountain Resort is located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, just 6 miles south of Tahoe City. From Reno or Northern California, Homewood can be reached by following Interstate 80 to California Highway 89, then following 89 south.

Directions from Sacramento: Take I-80 east to the 2nd Truckee exit (HWY 89 S). Take HWY 89 south to Tahoe City (13 miles). Take a right at Tahoe City continuing along the west shore of Lake Tahoe to Homewood (6 miles).
