Recreation - Winter at Northstar brings 2,420 acres of snow and terrain for skiing and snowboarding. Other winter opportunities at Northstar include tubing, snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing, and playing on a variety of snowtoys.
Summer visitors can play the 18-hole championship golf course or ride over 100 miles of trails at the mountain bike park. Challenge yourself at the Adventure Ropes Course, enjoy flyfishing at Sawmill Lake, or relax to the music of a concert performance in the Village. Northstar also offers hiking trails, horseback riding and ATV off-road tours.
Climate - Changeable weather conditions are common in the Lake Tahoe Basin throughout the year. Winter storms may occur from September through June, with heavy snow accumulations likely. Many of the ski resorts expect an average of over 450 inches of snow annually and can stay open until June. Sunny, summer skies may cloud over quickly with thundershowers, catching some people by surprise. Weather may also vary or change rapidly from lake-level (6,225 ft) to mountain peaks (10,880 ft).
