Description - Sierra has a long reputation of legendary terrain, excellent location and great value. Sierra stives to be "Lake Tahoe's Full Service, Value Oriented Day Use Snowsports Resort".

Attractions - Sierra at Tahoe has grown to be one of Lake Tahoe's largest ski resorts with over 2,000 skiable acres, serviced by ten chairlifts, including three express quads. Sierra offers great terrain, excellent snow and a new SuperPipe with 17 foot walls.

In an effort to make every possible way to have fun in the snow available to its guests, Sierra offers snowtoys. These include a new wave of toys such as snow bikes that allow visitors of all abilities to enjoy the mountain in new and unique ways. Those who want to try out the snowtoys should go to the Hill Thrill Center. After a ten-minute orientation, guests are allowed to use the snowtoys on Broadway and Sugar N' Spice runs.

The tubing center is another place to have fun at Sierra. The tubing center offers 700 feet of smooth sailing and big-bank turns that everyone can enjoy.

Recreation - Sierra-at-Tahoe offers 2,000 acres of excellent ski and snowboard terrain. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Sierra offers "snowtoys" and tubing.

Climate - Changeable weather conditions are common in the Lake Tahoe Basin throughout the year. Winter storms may occur from September through June, with heavy snow accumulations likely. Sierra-at-Tahoe expects an average of 480 inches of snow annually. Sunny, summer skies may cloud over quickly with thundershowers, catching some people by surprise. Weather may also vary or change rapidly from lake-level to the mountain peaks.

Location - Sierra-at-Tahoe is the closest major snowsports resort to Sacramento and San Francisco. It is located south of Lake Tahoe, off U.S. Highway 50. From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 east towards South Lake Tahoe. Sierra is 45 miles past Placerville on the right.

Directions from Reno: Take I-395 south through Carson City to US Highway 50 west over Echo Summit and turn left onto Sierra-at-Tahoe Road. (72 miles)
