General Information

Description - The Town of Snowmass Village is located 15 miles from Aspen-Pipkin County Airport. The Town of Snowmass Village is incorporates the area south-west of Aspen in the Brush Creek Valley. Snowmass is home to one of Aspen Ski Company's four world famous ski resorts. Snowmass Village area offers every type of outdoor recreation, both summer and winter as well as shopping, dinning, lodging, art centers and music venues.

Attractions - Snowmass is home to one of Aspen Ski Company's four world famous ski resorts. Snowmass Village area offers every type of outdoor recreation, both summer and winter as well as shopping, dinning, lodging, art centers and music venues. With over 3,300 skiable acres, Snowmass Mountain is a popular destination for winter enthusiasts and a world-class trail system to attract the summer adventurists, Snowmass has something for everyone. One of Snowmass' more recent attractions is it's discovery of the tusk of a young mammoth. Since this discovery in October of 2010, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science has uncovered over 5,000 bones of 41 kinds of Ice Age animals.

Recreation - The Town of Snowmass Village offers trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. These trails are managed by the Parks and Trails department in conjunction with Pitkin County Open Space and Trails, the City of Aspen, The U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Aspen Ski Company. Snowmass Ski Area is one of Snowmass' main recreational attractions offering over 3,300 skiable acres. Snowmass also offers cultural opportunities such as the Anderson Ranch Art Center as well as the Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Center.

Climate - Climate conditions in Colorado should be taken seriously throughout the state. Snow and ice are common on roads and trails from mid-October through late April. In the summer months snow is still possible but less common. Varying conditions throughout a given day can be expected throughout the year. Remember that summer days can typically have beautiful sunny mornings and short sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon. Please prepare appropriately for your outdoor experience.

Location - Snowmass Village is located eight miles from Aspen along the banks of Brush Creek. It is nestled in the high terrain of the Elk Mountains.
