Description
- The Two Ponds NWR is located in the city limits of Arvada, Colorado. The uplands main ground cover is grass and the dominant species is brome. Alfalfa is common within the brome. Mid-grass species are found on hilltops and knolls. Yucca and rabbitbrush are found on dryer sites, a few trees are scattered along the canals and old home sites. Three ponds have been constructed on the site. Three irrigation ditches bisect the refuge.Approximately 95 species of birds utilize the refuge and 10 species nest at the refuge. A variety of small mammals utilize the refuge. Fox, muskrats, and raccoons are the largest mammals.
