Eleven Mile State Park
Description - This site is located at an elevation of 8,600 feet in the southeastern corner of South Park, a large natural mountain park in central Colorado. The focus of the park is 3,400-acre Eleven Mile Reservoir, one of the largest reservoirs in Colorado. The nearby Front Range and interesting rock formations provide spectacular scenery for individuals enjoying the reservoir. Eleven Mile State Park is open year-round with 350 campsites for overnight accommodations.

Recreation - Eleven Mile Reservoir is known for its excellent fishing. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike and carp are all found within the waters of Eleven Mile. Power boating, sailboating, and windsurfing are also very popular during the summer and fall months. Two boat ramps are available on the shores of the reservoir. A multitude of camping and picnicking sites are available around the lake.

Climate - Climate conditions in Colorado should be taken seriously throughout the state. Snow and ice are common on roads and trails from mid-October through late April. In the summer months, snow is still possible but less common. Varying conditions throughout a given day can be expected throughout the year. Remember that summer days can typically have beautiful sunny mornings and short sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon. Please prepare appropriately for your outdoor experience.

Location - The reservoir lies on the South Platte River between Highways 24 and 9. To reach the park, travel 38 miles west of Colorado Springs on U.S. 24 to one mile west of the town of Lake George, then turn left (south) on County Road 90 and drive for six miles to County Road 92. Continue south on 92 for five miles to the park.

Report: Overcrowed, no shade, wind blows constantly. Ants, chipmunks crawling all over everything. just a big parking lot for fishermen. Good luck fishing from shore, no luck from anyone we talked to. This is strictly a fighing hole. Go camp in Eleven Mile Canyon if you want to enjoy yourself.

Report: One of our favorite spots. RV camping is not very shady but close to marina and boat launch. Backountry camping sites have shade and natural bariers (big rocks) between many of the sites and are on the water. Getting gear to back country sites is aided by having a boat to ferry it over as the trail is Rocky, marshy, steep and wooded. (in that order) Recomend getting smaller craft out of the water by noon as the storms can really clobber you.

Report: I went down to Elevenmile about 3 weeks ago with high hopes. I'd heard that it had some of the best ice fishing in Colorado.....well, after 2 days of fishing with 2 rods I pulled in......1 fish. It was a 20 inch Rainbow, but 1 F'ing fish? I would not recommend this reservoir to anyone, go to Red Feather instead.

Report: there is no shade and gets windy, but it is fairly warm. Beware- it is one giant ant bed. Fishing is a no go unless you have a boat. The backcountry camp sites looked nice. They had lots of jr. ranger activities for kids and also they were educational. Lots of other stuff in the area though.
