At the turn of the century, this was the site of the Diamond Match Company. Scenic waterfalls are at the southeast end of the Park on the Eight Mile River. The Larkin Bridle Trail is nearby.
- Southford Falls State Park offers wonderful bathroom and picnic table facilities.
Recreation - Cross-country skiing, and ice skating are avaliable activities during the winter, and field sports, picnicking, hiking, and pond and stream fishing are avaliable during the summer.
Climate - The climate of this state involves a moderate amount of humidity, heat and cold. Summer highs reach 90 degrees F with low temperatures near 65 degrees. Evenings near the water can become cool and light jackets and sweaters are recommended. Winter temperatures average in the mid thirties during the day and in the teens at night. Rarely do temperatures dip to zero, especially in the southern portion of the state, where the water influences the more temperate weather.
From I-84: take Exit 16. At both east and west ramps, take a left onto Route 188. Follow to junction with Route 67. At traffic light, take a left onto Route 67. At the next light, take a right back onto Route 188. Southford Falls is a ½ mile on the left.
From Route 8 north or south: take Exit 22 onto Route 67 in Seymour. Follow Route 67 north through Oxford. After about 9 miles, take a left at the traffic light at the Junction of Route 188. Southford Falls is approximately a ½ mile on the right.
