Description - The Middle Fork features Feather Falls, the third highest waterfall (640 feet) in the United States. This northern California river is remote and has outstanding fishing.

Designated Wild and Scenic Sections: The entire Middle Fork downstream from the confluence of its tributary streams one kilometer south of Beckwourth, California.
Wild -- 32.9 miles; Scenic -- 9.7 miles; Recreational -- 35.0 miles; Total -- 77.6 miles.

Recreation - Fishing is one of the most popular activities on this river.

Climate - Days in California are typically clear with less than 25 percent humidity. Temperatures are most comfortable in the spring and fall, with an average high of 85 degrees F and a low of 50 degrees F respectively. Winter brings cooler days, around 60 degrees F, and freezing nights. It occasionally snows at higher elevations. Summers are hot, over 100 degrees F during the day and not cooling much below 75 degrees F until the early morning.

Location - The Wild and Scenic portions of the Feather River run through northeast California, to the northeast of Oroville.
