Description - Located in northwestern Florida, the Falling Waters State Recreation Area boasts Florida's only waterfall. This geological wonder is the park's main. Limited recreation facilities include a campground, an amphitheater and large picnic grove. The park is open year-round for camping and exploration.

Attractions - Falling Waters State Recreation Area derives its name from one of Florida's most notable geological features: a 67-foot waterfall. Falling Waters Sink is a 100-foot deep, 20-foot wide cylindrical pit into which flows a small stream which drops 67 feet to the bottom of the sink. The water's final destination is not yet known.

Recreation - Falling Waters offers camping, swimming, picnicking and nature trails, which guide visitors through the unique plant and geological formations
of the park.

Climate - The panhandle area of Florida experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The average summer temperatures reach well above 83 degrees Fahrenheit (above 29 Celsius). Winters are mild with temperatures averaging below 52 degrees Fahrenheit (below 11 Celsius). The average precipitation for the panhandle area is more than 60 inches per year. August and September are peak months of the hurricane season that lasts from June 1 through November 30.

Location - Falling Waters Strate Recreation Area is located in northwest Florida, three miles south of Chipley off State Route 77A.

Report: If you're looking for a short trip to see some natural wonders, this is the place. It doesn't take long to walk (they're in the process of putting boardwalk down) and is neat.
