The 18 hole golf course
Description - Hard Labor Creek State Park comprises 5,804 acres and boasts a challenging 18-hole golf course. One of Georgia's best golf values, it offers a pro shop, driving range, rental carts, unlimited weekday play and senior citizen discounts. Hard Labor Creek cuts through the course, creating water hazards on five holes. The creek is thought to be named by slaves who tilled summer fields.

Visitors will find 51 tent, trailer and RV campsites, two group campsites, 20 cottages, two group shelters, four picnic shelters, and one BBQ pit. There are two lakes with swimming beaches and bathhouses as well as horse stables and riding trails.

Recreation - Hard Labor Creek State Park offers many recreational activities such as camping, picnicking, boating, golfing, and hiking. Visitors will enjoy the 18-hole golf course complete with a pro shop, a grill, rental carts, and a driving range. Water sport enthusiasts will enjoy the lakes that offer swimming, fishing and boating activities as well as boat rentals such as pedal boats, canoes and fishing boats. The park also features a 22 mile horseback riding trail for horseback riding and 2.5 miles of hiking trails.

Climate - Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter, especially at the higher elevations in northern Georgia.

Location - Hard Labor Creek State Park is located east of Atlanta in the Piedmont Region of north-central Georgia. To reach the park, take I-20 exit #49 into Rutledge and proceed 2 miles on Fairplay Road to the park.

Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites - There are 54 State Parks in Georgia, located throughout the state. The northern part of the state has the most parks with a high concentration along the coast as well.
Piedmont Region - This area is located in the north-central part of the state and is bisected by I-20, which passes through Atlanta and on to Augusta.
