General Information

Description - Warren Island State Park was acquired by the people of the State of Maine as a gift from the Town of Islesboro in 1959. The 70-acre island is a beautiful location to enjoy primitive outdoor activities. Wildlife viewing, nature photography and fishing opportunities abound. Access to the island is via private boats.

Attractions - The spruce covered island is a boater and fisherman delight. The pristine 70 acres offers ten campsites, two Adirondack shelters, fresh drinking water, and docking and mooring facilities on the lee side for protection. The park is designed for the boating public, and there is no public ferry transportation to the island. Contact Camden Hills State Park (207-236-3109) for information about campsite availability on a day-to-day basis.

Recreation - Boating, fishing, camping and picnicking are available on this primitive island. A state managed ferry runs between Lincolnville, on the mainland, to Grindle Point on Islesboro Island.

Climate - The summer vacation haven of Mid Coast Maine sees winter temperatures averaging above 18 degrees Fahrenheit (below -12 Celsius) and average summer temperatures above 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius). The Mid Coast Region receives on the average less than 38 inches (97 centimeters) of precipitation each year.

Location - A spruce-covered island off Lincolnville in Penobscot Bay. Maine State Ferry provides transportation to nearby Grindel Point from Lincolnville, which is located along US 1.
