Description - Orchard Beach State Park is due north of the Victorian town of Manistee. Situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, this 201-acre park offers a variety of outdoor recreations centered on water sports and in particular fishing. Anglers find success in both Lake Michigan and Manistee Lake. A variety of fishing opportunities are plentiful including local charters and two large fishing piers. Another regional draw is the unique town of Manistee, a former lumberman's town. Trolley tours and shopping in the Victorian Village are popular pastimes.

Orchard Beach State Park is situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.
- Orchard Beach State Park has 176 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring and electric hookup. The sites are grassy and shaded. Two bathhouses, a playground, fish cleaning facility and a sanitation station are located within the campground. A mini-cabin is available for rent within the campground. The mini-cabin is designed to sleep 4 people with bunks and mattresses, electricity, hot plate, and table with chairs. Outside of the cabin there is a picnic table and fire ring. Occupants of the mini-cabin have access to all the conveniences found in the campground including the stairway that leads from the campground to the beach. In addition, a 0.5-mile self-guided nature trail along with two miles of hiking trails are adjacent to the campground. Camping facilities open April 1 to December 1 with modern facilities available from April 15 to November 1.
The day use area is a great place to enjoy the view of Lake Michigan. The swimming beach is adjacent to an open picnic shelter, picnic tables, grills, and children's playground. Plenty of shade is available. A large stone pavilion complete with restroom facilities is available for rent. The building is ideal for groups up to 200 people. Reservations may be made by contacting the park office weekdays 8 AM - 5 PM.
Fishing is a major attraction at Orchard Beach State Park. During August and September fishing reaches fever pitch as coho and chinook Salmon come in for their spawning run. Later in the year the steelhead make their fall run. Charter boats, dock rental and good launching facilities are all available.
Many enjoy venturing to the historic Victorian Village located in Manistee. Trolleys, shopping, and dining make for an enjoyable day trip.
Recreation - Orchard Beach State Park is an angler's year-round destination. Camping, cabin lodging, boating, picnicking, group picnicking, playground fun, swimming, and hiking are among the other park attractions. Snowmobiling is enjoyed in winter.
Climate - West Coast Michigan experiences pleasant summers with temperatures averaging 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). In winter, temperatures plunge to 22 degrees F (-6 degrees C). Lake winds have dramatic affect on wind chill factors. Yearly precipitation averages 40 inches and above.
Orchard Beach State Park is located about two miles north of the Victorian town of Manistee. The park is located along M-110 on the Lake Michigan shore.
