General Information

Description - Stroll through the history of a once-bustling river town that’s now the serene village of Arrow Rock. You’ll walk streets lined with the architecture of the historic “Boone’s Lick Country.” At Arrow Rock State Historic Site, you may wander into the historic Old Tavern, which dates back to 1834 and provides a dining experience in a period setting or see displays of old-time wares at the Huston Store. You can learn about it all through exhibits in the visitor center. The historic site is part of the larger Village of Arrow Rock, which features quaint stores and a bevy of antique shops.

Attractions - Arrow Rock State Historic Site offers cultural events, lectures, "living history" re-enactments and special programs occur on the site and in the town throughout the year. Enjoy a meal in the historic setting of the J. Huston Tavern or catch bass, bluegill or channel cat in the four-acre Big Soldier Lake.

Recreation - Visitors of Arrow Rock State Historic Site can enjoy fishing, camping, picnicking, and hiking as well as visiting the historic sites, stores and antique shops of the village of Arrow Rock.

Climate - Missouri experiences four distinct seasons with an average yearly temperature of 54 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach 90 degrees F often and are plagued with high humidity levels. Nighttime lows during the summer dip slightly near 70 degrees. September brings cooler fall weather with less humidity. By October nights begin to cool significantly and the fall foliage changes to brilliant hues of orange, red and yellow. Winter months bring an average of 24 inches of snow and normal temperatures average between 20 and 45 degrees F. Spring is characterized by wet weather with temperatures reaching between 32 and 60 degrees F.

Location - Arrow Rock State Historic Park is located north west of Columbia. Arrow Rock is located of Highway 41. Directions: From Columbia 1. Head north on N Providence Rd toward E Walnut St. 2. Turn left to merge onto I-70 W/US-40 W toward Kansas City Continue to follow I-70 W 3. Take exit 98 for MO-135/MO-41 toward Arrow Rock/Pilot Grove 4. Turn right onto MO-41 N 5. Turn left to stay on MO-41 N Destination will be on the left. 12.6 mi MO-41 N
