General Information

Description - A red mill set on the blue waters of Huzzah Creek is as pretty a picture as there is in Missouri, and that’s the setting for Dillard Mill State Historic Site. The site interprets one of the state’s best-preserved gristmills, completed in 1908. Most of the machinery in the mill is still intact and original to the building. If you like the outdoors, the site’s location on Huzzah Creek in the Ozarks provides plenty of opportunities to fish, hike, picnic or just dream about the past.

Attractions - Visitors of Dillard Mill State Historic Site can hike to a bluff overlooking the scenic mill or fish Huzzah Creek, which offers various sunfish, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. There is also a picnic area at this scenic site.

Recreation - Recreational activities at the Dillard Mill State Historic Site include; historic site tours, picnicking, hiking, interpretive programs and fishing.

Climate - Missouri experiences four distinct seasons with an average yearly temperature of 54 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach 90 degrees F often and are plagued with high humidity levels. Nighttime lows during the summer dip slightly near 70 degrees. September brings cooler fall weather with less humidity. By October nights begin to cool significantly and the fall foliage changes to brilliant hues of orange, red and yellow. Winter months bring an average of 24 inches of snow and normal temperatures average between 20 and 45 degrees F. Spring is characterized by wet weather with temperatures reaching between 32 and 60 degrees F.

Location - Dillard Mill State Historic Site is located in the south eastern portion of the state, near Dillard off on highway 49.
