Legion State Park
Description - *This information provided by Mississippi Wildlife Fisheries and Parks*

The fourth of the original state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Legion State Park remains as unspoiled today as when the Choctaw Indian Nation first inhabited the area centuries ago. Hidden in the red hill country of Mississippi, Legion State Park strikes the perfect balance of natural beauty and modern comfort, with all man-made structures in the park designed to complement the pristine beauty of the area. Of particular interest is Legion Lodge, a hand-hewn log structure that has remained unaltered since its construction in the 1930s.

Attractions - This rustic park maintains its original look by featuring Legion Lodge, a 1930's building constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park is a delightful place to enjoy a picnic, a nature walk or a stay in one of the five rustic cabins.

The park facilities include two fishing lakes, a nature trail, a picnic pavilion, 5 rustic cabins, and tent campsites.

Recreation - Recreational activities include fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, camping and picnicking.

Climate - Mississippi generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Freezing temperatures are possible in the winter. Thunderstorms and are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.

Location - The park is located 2 miles north of Louisville on North Columbus Avenue (Old Hwy. 25).
