Roosevelt State Park conveniently located between Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi, offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities in a picturesque setting. The park's scenic overlook provides a panoramic view of the Bienville National Forest. The gently sloping landscape is particularly striking during the fall, when the forest is bright with autumn colors.

Attractions - Roosevelt Park is an excellent facility for group activities with a 200 capacity person convention center and group camping and sports facilities. Visitors can choose from numerous campsites or lodge rooms with kitchenettes for their overnight accommodations. Other park amenities include lighted tennis courts, nature/wildlife observation area, a water slide, miniature golf and a multipurpose sports field.

Recreation - Visitors will find a variety of outdoor sports activities on and around the park's 150 acre lake.

Climate - Mississippi generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Freezing temperatures are possible in the winter. Thunderstorms and are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.

Location - The park is located just a few minutes east of Jackson on I-20, exit 77.

Report: We have not stayed at Roosevelt yet but are making plans to rent a cabing sometime this fall. We love the Mississippi park system and have had wonderful experiences at other Mississippi State Parks. Roosevelt Park is so beautiful I can not wait for our next camping trip.

Report: This was our first family camping trip. Our children had a great time hiking on the trails and cooking out. The cabins were wonderful! We plan to make this an annual trip. I highly recommend Roosevelt State Park. It was so beautiful in November. Thanks!

Jackson Area - Outdoor life in the County is always a beautiful and educational experience. As one of Mississippi's 27 state parks, Jackson County's own Shepard State Park provides its visitors with picnic areas, bike and nature trails, and areas for tent camping. The Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge and the Pascagoula Wildlife Management Area are popular wildlife refuges that are open to hikers, bird watchers. Campers will also enjoy the beautiful Gulf Islands National Seashore Park in Ocean Springs.
Mississippi State Parks - Mississippi State Parks offer great areas to camp, fish and hike as well as learn about various historical sites.
Pines Region - The Pines Region encompasses the east-central portion of Mississippi, with the Alabama border forming its eastern boundary. It encompasses the areas surrounding the cities of Meridian and Columbus, west to Winona and Forest.
