Description - This park is one of the most beautiful rustic parks in the state of Mississippi. Its 1530 acres abounds in unique geology and plant life which set it apart from the rest of Mississippi due to the fact that it is located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The park contains rock formations dating to the Devonian and Mississippian epochs of the Paleozoic era. This is the only location where these two formations are found in the State of Mississippi.

Attractions - Tishomingo is abundant in natural beauty and offers an April to mid-October Bear Creek float trip, a 13-mile nature trail system, swinging bridge, pool, 6 cabins, multi-use playing field, group camp for 142 persons, tent camping and 62 camping pads.

Recreation - An eight-mile canoe float trip down Bear Creek operates daily from mid-April until mid-October. A junior Olympic size swimming pool is located near the park lodge. In addition, the park offers opportunities for hiking, fishing, family camping and group camping, cabin-stays, and playing fields for sports.

Climate - Mississippi generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Freezing temperatures are possible in the winter. Thunderstorms and are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.

Location - Tishomingo State Park is located in Tishomingo County in the northeast corner of Mississippi. There is another entrance to the park from Highway 25 just south of the town of Tishomingo.

Report: This is great place to go year round. It provides great exercise, and I have even been running the trails in the rain, they can be slippery when its raining so use caution. I would recommend watching your children closely because there are some places that could be dangerous for a carefree child. The trail on the otherside of the swinging bridge is one of the best workouts you can get at the park. Some of the trails can be slippery, but exercise good judgement and you shouldnt have a problem. I recommend it for anyone wishing to lose weight, or anyone who loves nature.

Report: we were there just by accident , traveling thru several years ago,was in Oct. around the 3rd. week-end ,this is the week-end they hold the South West area,s Dalcimar Festivel. It is the most rewarding experience I have had in our years of camping, we met ole Friends that had lived in our home town, gone to our Church ,kid,s in school together, hadn't seen each other in years.Shared a marvelous covered dish meal with all the Dalcimar , guitar, mandalin ,etc. player,s, Stayed on until Sunday ,couldn't stand to miss a thing. The group is there in April and in October. The greatest thing was that the Park is truly a peaceful place. A forrest of beautiful trees, great campsites, a small lake is near , trails to walk, good facilities, I would love to go back this summer or in the fall, but who knows what life will bring, sunshine or rain comes to us all, BUT rain never seems to dampen the spirit when you are at Tishomingo State Park. Try it , I truly believe all age,s have to enjoy such a wonderful place of tranquility. God Bless you and may The Sun shine on you all the time.Have a Good Life P and F Gissett from Rattlesnake Country , OPP, AL. 36467
