General Information

Located on the west shore of Beaver Lake, the park's gently rolling prairie provides scenic views for leisurely walks. In the summer, the lake attracts visitors for boating, canoeing, water skiing and fishing.

The park has a colorful and historic background relating to the early settlers of Logan, McIntosh and Emmons counties. The first organized gathering to promote a state park occurred on July 14, 1929, at Shepherd's Pavilion, south of the present park site. In August of 1930, the land for the park was purchased.

Recreation - Today, Beaver Lake State Park is operated as a seasonal park, with camping, picnicking and water-based activities available from mid-May through Labor Day.

Climate - North Dakota lies in the northwestern continental interior of the US. Characteristically, summers are hot, winters very cold, and rainfall sparse to moderate, with periods of drought. The average annual temperature is 40°F, ranging from 7°F in January to 69°F in July.

Location - Beaver Lake State Park is located 17 miles southeast of Napoleon. From Napoleon go south on Highway 3 for 8 miles, east on the Burnstad Road 7 miles to Beaver Lake State Park turn-off, 1 mile north and then 1 mile east.
