This 200 acre area near Scribner on the Elkhorn River has 50 acres of water and offers good camping, picnicking, fishing and non powered boating. The area has 17 pads with 30-amp electrical hookups, primitive camping, drinking water and latrines.
Dead Timber is 150 acre tract of land adjacent to the Elkhorn River with 2 ponds totalling 50 acres.
- There are camping pads with electricity and nondesignated camp sites. Due to recent budget cuts, mowing routines will be reduced and concentrated around holiday weekends. This will include the electrical campground area, a small portion of area for the picnic shelters, the playground, the river trail, some lake edges and a small portion of primitive camp area. A majority of the primitive camping area will not be maintained. No trash collection will be provided, pack in pack out. The electrical sites will remain in service and will be maintained, and the water hydrant in that area will remain open. Three restrooms will remain in service. Two will only be maintained for weekends, the restroom serving the electrical sites will remain open. The length of season will be limited to May 15 - Labor Day.
Recreation - This area offers camping, picnicking and fishing.
Climate - Nebraska has a moderate climate with high humidity. The relative humidity in this state averages 70 percent throughout the year. Winter temperatures normally average between 20 and 45 degrees F. March brings warmer weather and temperatures above freezing for most of the month. Spring is in full swing by late April when temperatures often reach above 60 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach highs of 95 degrees F frequently, with warm weather continuing into mid September. Crisp fall weather truly begins in October when nighttime temperatures begin to dip into the low 40s. The wettest time of the year in this state is late spring through summer.
