One of eastern Nebraska's most popular recreation areas, Fremont has about 40 land acres and nearly 300 water acres in 20 sandpit lakes. Located three miles west of Fremont, this is a favorite area with campers, picnickers and water enthusiasts - from boating to fishing to water skiing. The swimming beach is unsupervised, and there is a PWC area, as well as a handicap accessible fishing pier.
- Fremont State Recreation Area's campgrounds offer hardsurfaced pads, situated among mature shade trees. Modern shower/latrine buildings and drinking water are conveniently located. There are showers, trailer dump stations and water are available. Fishing, boating, swimming beach, picnicking and primitive camping is also available in the park.
All campers must register. Reservations are accepted. Reservations are taken for 50% of the modern camping at Pathfinder and Victory Lake campgrounds. Reservations are taken up to 1 year in advance of arrival day. Year to date reservations begin at 9 .m. CT, by phone, in person or over the Internet.
Recreation - Thousands of campers, anglers, boaters, swimmers, picnickers and other enthusiasts enjoy the outdoor recreation at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area. Few areas offer more diversified recreation. Facilities include modern campgrounds with dump stations, picnic tables, shelter houses, fireplaces, playground equipment, water, lights, modern restrooms and boat launch sites.
Fremont Lakes is composed of 20 sandpit lakes that provide a place for just about any type of activity. The areas features three swimming beaches. The area also has a specially redesigned lake for use by personal water craft (PWC). A ramp has been installed to allow the PWCs to back into the water, and two new picnic/viewing shelters have been added to the PWC beach.
Climate - Nebraska has a moderate climate with high humidity. The relative humidity in this state averages 70 percent throughout the year. Winter temperatures normally average between 20 and 45 degrees F. March brings warmer weather and temperatures above freezing for most of the month. Spring is in full swing by late April when temperatures often reach above 60 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach highs of 95 degrees F frequently, with warm weather continuing into mid September. Crisp fall weather truly begins in October when nighttime temperatures begin to dip into the low 40s. The wettest time of the year in this state is late spring through summer.
Any guests coming from the North, East, or South go west of Fremont 2 miles on Hwy #30, and then head south at county road #19 into the park. Guests coming from the West at approx. two West of Fremont you will turn right or South on county road #19 into the park.
