Description - A true oasis in the barren desert of eastern New Mexico, Oasis State Park is set among cottonwood trees, shifting sand dunes, and a small fishing lake.

Oasis State Park
Park amenities include a group shelter, restrooms, showers, and a playground. Facilities at the peaceful and shady campground include 23 developed sites, many with electric hookup, and an RV dump station. The park covers an area of 196 acres, 3 of which are lake surface. Oasis State park is seated at an elevation of 4,000 feet.
- More than 80 bird species make their home at the park during the year. It's especially ideal in
winter. Look for great blue heron, ring-neck pheasant, quail, and western sandpiper.
Relic native cottonwoods provide shade in this sandy park.
Recreation - Recreation opportunities include camping, picnicking, fishing, hiking on trails, and viewing wildlife.
Climate - Annual precipitation is 17.7 inches. Summer temperatures range from lows around 62 to highs around 90. Winter temps range from lows of 25 degrees to highs around 53.
Oasis State Park is located in the east-central region of the state, near the Texas border. It is just north east of the town of Portales.
