Genesee Travel Region

Conesus Lake Boat Launch- The most westerly of the 11 Finger Lakes, Conesus Lake is located in Livingston County offering a hard surface ramp with room for 45 cars with trailers.
Darien Lakes State Park- Darien Lakes State Park is located in western New York amidst rolling hills, ravines and streams. The park rests on the small 12-acre Harlow Lake which offers a water sports and land recreation around the water.
Hamlin Beach State Park- Hamlin Beach State Park is located along the shores of Lake Ontario a short distance from Rochester. The park offers year-round outdoor recreation.
Irondequoit Bay State Marine Park- Irondequoit Bay State Marine Park is located in Irondequoit Bay, Lake Ontario. A boat launch and boat cleaning site are offered. No additional facilities.
Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge- Located in western New York, the refuge serves as a nesting, feeding, resting and staging areas for migratory waterfowl.
Lakeside Beach State Park- Lakeside Beach State Park is located along Lake Ontario State Parkway, 40 miles west of Rochester. This particular location offers an outstanding panoramic view of the lake.
Letchworth State Park- Letchworth State Park is a spectacular park running along the Genesee River Gorge. It is known as one of the most scenic regions in the eastern United States. Park amenities are the finest.
Oak Orchard State Marine Park- Oak Orchard State Marine Park is a boat launch facility on Lake Ontario with fishing access and picnic areas available April through November of each year.
Silver Lake State Park- Silver Lake State Park offers a site from which visitors may launch their watercraft onto Silver Lake. Other day use facilities are offered.

Letchworth State Park
Description - The Genesee Travel Region is located in western New York and is home to the metropolis of Rochester, which is the dwelling to the Rochester Institute of Technology. This beautiful area offers the outdoor enthusiast plenty of choices. Eight State Parks are found within this region offering access to many lakes including the great Lake Ontario. An array of recreation awaits including easy hikes to fabulous waterfalls, whitewater boating opportunities, fishing, swimming, camping, nature programs, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking and a variety of winter sports.

Attractions - A wealth of pleasures awaits the visitor to the Genesee Travel Region. The area is home to eight State Parks many of which sit on picturesque waters including the great Lake Ontario. This manufacturing, cultural and commercial area offers some of New York's most beautiful sights including Letchworth State Park. The park is known for its enormous gorge with sheer cliffs ranging 600 feet high and the three magnificent waterfalls. The woodland setting abounds with wildlife and recreation opportunities. The sandy beaches, excellent fishing, hiking trails and more attract visitors to the Lake Ontario area with its panoramic views of the water and surrounding agricultural atmosphere.

Recreation - Outdoor opportunities in this western region abound. Magnificent hikes to waterfalls, whitewater boating, excellent fishing, swimming along sandy shores, camping in the shadows of panoramic views, nature programs, hunting opportunities, horseback riding, mountain biking and winter sports are all enjoyed throughout the Genesee Travel Region.

Climate - The Genesee Travel Region experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that the Rochester area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region averages less than 36 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - Located in western New York, the Genesee Travel Region is bordered by Lake Ontario to the north, the Niagara Travel Region to the west, the Allegany Travel Region to the south and the Finger Lakes Travel Region to the east.
