Description - As the western gateway to New York, the Niagara Travel Region finds itself a traveler's destination. The grand Niagara Falls is located within this region as well as the nation's third oldest zoo, Buffalo Zoological Gardens. Visitors also flock to the Earl W. Brydges Artpark, which offers the finest visual and performing arts. Also located within the Niagara Travel Region is over a dozen State Parks and one State Historic Site that provide educational opportunities, camping, multi-use trails, picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, winter sports, golfing and much more.

Attractions - As the western gateway to New York, the Niagara Travel Region finds itself entertaining millions of visitors each year. Many enjoy stopping by the massive Niagara Falls before venturing in to or from Ontario, Canada which lies just west of the region. The nation's third oldest zoo, Buffalo Zoological Gardens, resides in the region offering sights of more than 1,000 animals. Earl W. Brydges Artpark is a source of enjoyment for many offering the finest visual and performing arts. Over a dozen State Parks and one State Historic Site offer an assortment of year-round recreation.

Recreation - Outdoor opportunities in this western region abound. Many visitors enjoy viewing the world-famous Niagara Falls, fishing in Lake Ontario, enjoy performing arts at Artpark or walking the sandy shores of Woodlawn Beach. Hundreds of picnic tables and campsites are offered in addition to multi-use trails for hikers, bikers and equestrians during the warmer months while cross-country skiers enjoy them during the snow season. Folks also enjoy a championship golf course, boating opportunities and hunting excursions.

Climate - The Niagara Travel Region experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that the Buffalo area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - The Niagara Travel Region is found along the western landmass of New York borderng the Allegany Travel Region to the south, the Genesee Travel Region to the east, Lake Ontario to the north and Ontario, Canada to the west.
