Description - The Taconic / Hudson Valley Travel Region is steeped in scenic beauty, rich history, graceful mountains and one of America's largest rivers. Nearly a dozen State Parks are located in this region along with seven State Historic Sites offering an opportunity for a variety of boating activities, golfing, hiking, sight seeing, fishing, swimming, camping, picnicking and winter sports. Many visitors also enjoy viewing the beautifully landscaped gardens, elegant mansions and stately country inns. A rich heritage exists in this area including the historic U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Much of the area is home to magnificently landscaped gardens, elegant mansions, lush vineyards and apple orchards and stately country inns. This charming area is also well known as the home to West Point Military Academy.
Recreation - Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddleboating, golfing, hiking, sight seeing, excellent fishing, swimming, viewing historic sites, camping, picnicking, hunting, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and trail riding are enjoyed throughout the Taconic / Hudson Valley Travel Region. Climate - The Taconic / Hudson Valley Travel Region has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from above 22 degrees down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Location -
The Taconic / Hudson Valley Travel Region is located along the eastern edge of the state bordered by New York City to the south, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to the east, the Saratoga / Capitol Travel Region to the northwest and the Palisades Travel Region to the west.
