Caleb Smith State Park Preserve
Description - Caleb Smith State Park Preserve is located at a beautiful old estate with expansive lands. The park is nestled in a suburban area offering a reprieve from the busy urban and suburban lifestyles. A series of ponds, wetlands and mature woods is the ideal home for many small animals and song birds. A series of trails runs through the property offering an opportunity to hike or bike. Visitors also enjoy fly fishing at Caleb.

Attractions - Comprised of freshwater wetlands, ponds, streams, fields and upland woods, the Caleb Smith State Park Preserve is nestled in the middle of a suburb. The preserve is a refuge for wildlife and man alike. The park is open year-round from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. It is closed Monday from April to September and closed Mondays and Tuesdays from October to March.

Recreation - Caleb Smith State Park Preserve provides hiking, cross-country skiing, nature trails and fishing. In addition, the 32-mile Long Island Greenbelt Trail passes through the park.

Climate - The area of Caleb Smith State Park experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average above 72 degrees Fahrenheit (above 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Typically Long Island has more than 200 days of frost-free growing season.

Location - Located on Long Island, Caleb Smith Preserve may be found southeast of Smithtown along Jericho Turnpike / SR 25.
