Description - Jones Beach State Park has been a favorite attraction for generations due to its wonderful swimming and sun bathing opportunities. The park offers 6.5 miles of sandy beach and two swimming pools. Fishing, golfing, recreation games and much more are offered at this year-round park. There is even a two-mile boardwalk that features "Castles in the Sand" photo collection depicting the development of state parks on Long Island. A undeveloped area of the park is preserved for native plants and migratory birds

Jones Beach State Park
- Jones Beach State Park's top attraction has always been swimming. The park offers fine surf bathing along 6.5 miles of ocean beach, one-half mile of bay beach for still water bathing, and two swimming pools. The west end of the park provides wonderful surf fishing, a boat basin and undeveloped areas that are home to a variety of migratory birds and native plants. Jones Beach has a two-mile boardwalk and a "Castles in the Sand" photo collection at the East Bathhouse that depicts the development of the Long Island State Park and parkway systems.
Recreation - Jones Beach State Park offers a swimming beach, two swimming pools, fishing access, marina, gift shop, pitch-putt golf course, a performing arts center, picnic area, children's playground, showers and recreation programs.
The par 3 Pitch Putt Course is adjacent to the boardwalk and Atlantic Ocean. It is an interesting short course that plays differently each day, depending upon the prevailing winds. Visitors can also swim from the still water beach, play basketball, paddle tennis or shuffleboard, or enjoy the nature trails. Minimum participation age is 10 years old with guardian. The course is open from April - November. Green fees for 18 holes is $7, weekdays and weekends. Club rental is $2 plus deposit fee of $3.
Climate - The Jones Beach area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average above 72 degrees Fahrenheit (above 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Typically Long Island has more than 200 days of frost-free growing season.
Located south of Wantagh, Jones Beach State Park is accessed by traveling south on Meadowbrook State Parkway to Ocean State Parkway.
