Report: Field 10 (fishing piers). I take my 6 kids and 3 nephews here most weekends. They love it! I really get a kick out of seeing them run up and down the piers screaming at the top of their lungs in the fresh air. The fish don't seem to mind and the people always smile.

Report: Jones Beach is a beautiful State Park with a lot more to do than just swim in the ocean. There is a huge Boardwalk to enjoy..I think it's more than 3 miles long...great for people watching. They have a mini golf course off the boardwalk, and a bandshell that offers nightly events during the summer. There is a concession stand with fast food at the central Mall area as well as a beach shop and sit-down restaurant. My family always enjoys Jones Beach, but plan to get there early to avoid the traffic and mid-day crowding..and to get the spot you want on the beach. It's always more crowded by the central mall area...so if your're not into crowds, bring your own lunch a choose a parking field futher away from the central area. If you're coming from Eastern Long Island hop on the Ocean Parkway , it's a much nicer ride than Southern State. There is a small local hotel tucked away in a residental area near Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh, just off the Wantagh Parkway and Merrick Road called the Jones Beach Hotel. A little out-dated, but attached to a FABULOUS restaurant! Good choice for out-of-towners coming in to see a concert at the Jones Beach Theater. Enjoy!!
