Description - Letchworth State Park lies along the Genesee River which roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between sheer cliffs towering upward of 600 feet. The lush green forests add to the magnificent natural beauty. Park amenities are some of the finest in the state. A historic inn, winterized cabins, large tent sites and group sites offer an extended visit. Multi-use trails for hikers, bikers, equestrians and winter cross-country skiers wind over 60 miles. A summer lecture and entertainment series includes historical talks, performing arts, nature walks and even hot air balloon rides. Folks wishing to get outdoors in winter will find lots to do at Letchworth including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, snow tubing and even horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Attractions - Letchworth State Park is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern United States. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn offers overnight accommodations and is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Campers can take advantage of tent and trailer campsites or winterized cabins. Group camping facilities are available as well. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Two pools are open for swimming. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking and hot air ballooning. Winter activities include ice skating, snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Recreation - Letchworth State Park is a treasure trove of outdoor recreation. This fabulous park offers over 60 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. It also offers several choices for overnight accommodations including a restored inn, winterized cabins and many individual and group campsites suitable for tents and RVs. Folks enjoy a lecture series with a wide range of topics and activities. A swimming pool is offered, picnic groves, fishing opportunities and seasonal hunting. There is also a wide range of winter activities including cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling and even horse-drawn sleigh rides. The park, including cabin rental is available year-round. The campground opens in mid-May and closes in mid-October.

Climate - The Letchworth State Park area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that this area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region averages less than 36 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - Letchworth State Park is located along the Genesee River approximately 35 miles south of Rochester. It is easily accessible off Interstate 390, Exit 7.

Report: I went with my grandparents to letchworth. It was alot of fun. The sites are really good and I just loved everything that we did there.
