Mark Twain / Soaring Eagles Golf Course
Description - The Mark Twain / Soaring Eagles Golf Course is a favorite 18-hole area course. It offers total yardage at 6,625 with a 72 par. The April to November course offers full clubhouse amenities including power golf carts, pro shop, club rentals, driving range and restaurant.

Attractions - Named for the great 19th century author who spent summers in the area, Mark Twain State Park is the home of one of the most scenic and challenging 18-hole courses in the area. The course has a unique 18-hole design with only two parallel holes. The excellent conditions for this course were created thousands of years ago by a retreating glacier that laid down hundreds of feet of sand, gravel and silt. Buried ice blocks slowly melted, leaving water-filled depressions or "kettle ponds" on the course.

Recreation - Golf is the featured recreation at the Mark Twain / Soaring Eagles Golf Course. The course is open from April to November of each year. Archery hunting is permitted in season.

The golf course offers a clubhouse, practice green, power carts, pro shop, club rentals and restaurant. The signature golf hole is the 11th hole. A short par 4 with a fairway pond and water in front of the green. Motorized cart fee for 9 holes is $12 and for 18 holes, $22. The green fees for 18 holes during the weekday run $17 and on weekends $21. The course is a par 72 with yardage of 6,327. Championship par is 72 and championship yardage is 6,625.

Climate - This area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note it receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - From Horseheads travel SR 17 to SR 14 Exit (Watkins Glen). Travel 2 miles north and turn right onto Wygant Road. Travel it about 1 mile and turn left (north) onto Ridge Road. Go 1 block and turn left onto Middle Road. Travel it for 1 mile and turn left onto Clubhouse Road which will carry you to the golf course parking lot.
