Climate - New York experiences four distinct seasons, with spring and fall being the most pleasant times to travel through the region. Humidity in the southeastern areas of the state can make summer travel uncomfortable, although many festivals and special events occur during that season. Summer highs in the lower elevations of New York usually don't surpass 90 degrees F. Thunderstorms occur a few times a week and can bring needed relief from the heat.

This area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that it receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region averages less than 36 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - Oak Orchard State Marine Park is located along Lake Ontario State Parkway on Archibald Road, 35-40 miles west of Rochester.

Report: This is an easy spot to get to off of the Parkway. Straight across the exit ramp. Launching at the state run facility off Archibald Road is a snap. Lots of parking and trailer spots. Have been going out to Point Breeze every three days or so. Wind is up a bit but the channel is calm. Some of the best fishin around is near by. The first derby winner on May first was just a little ways away. He weighed in at Captain's Cove. Encouraging for all those that are chasin the $1000 a day derby. Saw that boat come in. He said he had one but was reluctant to get too excited. I was REALLY excited when I saw his name on the BIG board on the third of May! Lots of boats on the Lake on Friday. Saw fish but we didn't bring any in. Came off the lake just before that huge storm the other day and the state dock became a nice haven for a few hours. Went back out till dark. Saw the men cleanin and shapen up the docks at the marina. The place looks sharp. I didn't realize there were so many slips here. We've been at a concert or two in the past. Entertainment is well chosen. It's easy to get to from 98 north through the Ridge(104) Great places to catch a snack and ice cream - Berry's just before the Archibald turnoff. The Finest dining is down at the Village Inn at the intersection of 104 and 98. Great food at the Carlton Inn right on 98. Plenty of bait shops and marinas around with great advice and friendly capins. I recommend this spot to anyone and I have nothing commercial to sell. Just love the area and learnin bout the Point Breeze area.
