General Information

Description - Located south of Cornwall between US 9 and Storm King Hwy. / SR 218, this park offers incredible views of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. There are no facilities at this park.

Attractions - Storm King State Park offers unsurpassed views of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. Hikers and hunters enjoy this undisturbed green space. The park is undeveloped and does not have restroom facilities. Parking is limited.

Recreation - Hiking and hunting are the only two recreations enjoyed on this state parcel.

Climate - New York experiences four distinct seasons, with spring and fall being the most pleasant times to travel through the region. Humidity in the southeastern areas of the state can make summer travel uncomfortable, although many festivals and special events occur during that season. Summer highs in the lower elevations of New York usually don't surpass 90 degrees F. Thunderstorms occur a few times a week and can bring needed relief from the heat.

The Storm King State Park area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. The central Catskills receive the highest precipitation.

Location - Storm King State Park is located south of Cornwall between US 9 and Storm King Hwy / SR 218.
