General Information

Description - Wilson-Tuscarora State Park is known for its interesting and varied natural habitat. A variety of wildlife and plant life enjoy the mature woods, meadows and marshes which encompass 395 acres along Lake Ontario. This park is a year-round, day use facility.

Attractions - Wilson-Tuscarora State Park is a well-preserved natural area for many varieties of plants and wildlife, encompassing 395 acres of mature woods, open meadows and marshland. Tuscarora Bay, divided from Lake Ontario by a strip of land called "The Island," has a boat launch and emergency storm shelter docks. The park's four-mile nature trail is also used for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Fishing for many varieties of panfish and game fish, from boats or from shore, is extremely popular. Picnickers can enjoy scenic views of the lake while children play in the playground.

Recreation - Recreation opportunities at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park include swimming, fishing, picnicking, a children's playground, viewing wildlife and plant life, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. A marina and boat launch are offered. The park is a day use facility, open year-round.

Climate - This area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that this area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.

Location - Located just east of Wilson, this park rests along the shores of Lake Ontario off SR 18.
