Description
- The refuge provides a protected resting and feeding area for a large portion of the small canada goose population of the Central Flyway as a major fall migration stopover and wintering area. The lake, wooded bottomlands, grasslands and croplands provides a variety of habitats that attracts many species of ducks, geese, water birds, eagles, passerines, white-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, beaver and small mammals.

The Washita NWR is located in western Oklahoma on the northwest one-third of Foss Reservoir.
